Along with the other imprints of the Študentska založba Academic Press in Ljubljana — Koda (contemporary theory), the Journal for the Criticism of Science (sociology and new anthropology), Scripta (textbooks) and Claritas (philosophy), Beletrina has gained its reputation primarily by introducing prominent works of contemporary world and national literature to Slovene readers. We are keeping the initial goal alive: to set standards for a new publishing philosophy which, in addition to focusing on noncommercial titles and giving priority to inventiveness, freshness and directness, respects authors and invests considerable effort in the promotion of their work.
